A legendary Scottish musician - Hugh
Burns - performs with his stunning Jazz quartet.

Liane Carroll on stage on Saturday
afternoon.
It was a a great pleasure to see
one of the countries finest singers performing at the show.
Liane recently won the BBC 'Best vocalist' award - and on
the strength of this performance its easy to see why.

Local
band from ESHER College - THE DOWNBEATS turned in a fabulous
set of their hybrid SKA/Punk/Rock sound to the rapturous delight
of the local lasses who turned out for their set. |
|

LOUIS RIBEIRO and JIVE NATION
|

On bass with Jive Nation - Victor Mensah from Ghana.
Victor plays with Osibisa, and has worked with Jive Nation
for the past decade.
Six weeks ago after severe illness, Victor underwent major
cancer related surgery. Whilst the operation was in progress,
his vital functions failed. Victor was clinically dead.
At this point he recalls meeting his deceased parents sitting
alongside his grandparents. "Go back Victor' they said.
'This is not your time'.
I had the great pleasure of asking Victor about his exprience.
He told me the family were very close. Praying together
5 times a day during his (Muslim) upbringing.
As bandleader Louis Ribero is a committed Christian - we
did not lose the opportunity to point out that in this case
Allah seems to have turned in a much better hand than the
Lord. Happily despite reading from such different handbooks,
both perform beautifully in the same band. We look forward
to seeing Victor at next years show.

We were especially thrilled to see Spike
Edney, Chris Thompson and the lads make time to perform here
this year in view of their demanding schedule and the likely
repercussions of celebrating Jamie Moses' 29th Birthday party.
In the spirit of the occasion we arranged this hospitality.

Chrissies interview with Jamie Moses
on stage before the show.

Chris arrived at the ground without
an entrance permit - as he has flown in from LA. The security
guard asked him for his pass. Unable to produce it - he
has said 'I am a musician and here to sing'. The guard
has said - 'How do I know you are a musician' Chris sings
the first line of BLINDED BY THE LIGHT - and is immediately
recognised.
How lovely to never need to carry
any other ID

And when everyone has gone home - the
man left to pack it all up before doing it again - as ever
- Bevo.
